Leica Microsystems, the world leader in microscopes and scientific instruments has announced the release of a free digital pathology application for iPads and iPhones under its Total Digital Pathology solutions which provides complete solutions to scan manage and analyze digital slides. The application can make the jobs of pathologists and other researchers slightly easier by making it easy to identify the tissue samples they are viewing under microscope. The new application known as SlidePath Gateway is a Digital Pathology viewing application with built in educational content from leading institutes and pathologists. SlidePath App provides free access to high quality External Quality Assessment (EQA) programs along with high resolution whole slide images captured on Leica SCN400 slide scanner along with expert diagnosis.
With increased acceptance of devices like iPad and other tablets in laboratories, hospitals and clinical settings, as a tool to enhance the features or usability of current equipments, SlidePath is the first application by Leica to use iPads. The application is now available on the Apple “App Store”.
