Beckman Coulter launches mass spectrometer with OptiMS Technology

Beckman Coulter, Inc. recently introduced the CESI 8000 High Performance Separation ESI Module with OptiMS Technology. The OptiMS technology merges an intrinsically low flow capillary electrophoresis (CE) for mass spectroscopy (MS) along with electrospray ionization (ESI) coupling technology, within a single dynamic process. CESI 8000 is the first mass spectrometer which comes with the CESI technology (CS + ESI) and is designed to be robust, provide high sensitivity, decrease cycle time, to be able to accept minute quantities of sample and to provide a broad range of analyte coverage that is complimentary to GC-MS and LC-MS. ESI readings are generated at an ultra-slow rate of nL/min which results in extremely high sensitivity and reduced ion suppression. The new CESI technology was demonstrated by Beckman Coulter at the “Supercharging your Mass Spectrometer with CESI-MS” workshop at the HPLC 2011 symposium to be able to analyze and identify molecules that were being overlooked in spectrometers without CESI. The CESI 8000 can greatly help researchers having problems in analyzing polar and charged molecules
